According to polls over 30% of Americans consider themselves spiritual but not religious. Are you one? I am. When I first saw this statistic, I was amazed. I thought, what a huge proportion of the population! I mean, consider that in the face of the fact that only 22% of Americans consider themselves Republicans or 24% of Americans consider themselves to be Catholic. A staggering number of individuals are spiritual but not religious.

We are HUGE! But, are we really similar?

What do you do or believe that makes you spiritual but not religious?

A spiritual attachment is energy from another person, actually another spirit as we are all spirits, that has attached itself to ours. A lot of my work with clients has to do with removing these attachments. Before going on to the most common types, I want to say a few words about the nature of spiritual attachments. We all have them. They block our energy in various ways. Spiritual attachments that come from another person have to do with an unresolved emotional connection. It can literally be anything, love, hate, lust, jealousy, envy, desire, trauma, you name it. The point is that the energetic attachment is formed by the persistent and not fully resolved emotion. These energetic attachments hook into us like a harpoon into a wale and keep us from swimming freely through the ocean of our lives.

I will talk about particular aspects of attachments in other blogs. For now, here are the most common sources.

Family: This is by far the most common source. It makes sense, of course. For most of us, the most important figures in our lives, especially the formative years, are family. We also often have intense, suppressed, and long-lasting emotions regarding family. Spiritual attachments to family members often go the deepest and can have profound implications to ones life and happiness.

Current and Ex Lovers and Spouses: Definitely a strong second. Passion, love, lust, rejection, anger, hurt, and desire are strong energies that form strong spiritual attachments. Like family, lovers and spouses, both past and current, can be responsible for deep and significant spiritual attachments.

Friends and Acquaintances: A distant third. There are many different levels of emotional intensity in seemingly casual relationships. The vary nature of the relationship being casual means that you may not have a lot of insight into the undercurrents in the other person. So, you can easily become an unwitting victim of their anger, mistrust, envy, or indeed, their desire. All of theses emotions can form energy attachments from their spirit to your spirit.

Coworkers, Bosses and Employees: Many of my clients are business owners or executives. I am sometimes amazed by the sheer number and weight of attachments they have from their employees. Of, course it works the other way too. I have to pull off the bosses or the manager’s attachments from employees as well. Typically these attachments are very minor. Not something that would significantly effect the course of ones life, but never the less, a drag on the system and a lightening of the load when they are gone.

Now, for an interesting tidbit. It doesn’t seem to matter how long ago these attachments were formed. They can last decades and dare I say it, lifetimes, but that is another topic. Also, since these are essentially spiritual attachments, they can and often do persist after death. However, removing them works the same either way.

There are also less common sources of spiritual attachments that I will address in other blogs.

It has been my pleasure and my privilege to be able to work with the Muslim women who have booked my services. As you know, people of all religions and those who do not subscribe to a religion are all welcome in my practice.

People who associate themselves with a particular religion often have a true purpose that is in line with the spiritual energy of their religion. It is clear for me to see when I work directly with their conscious energy. This has been the case with Muslim women with whom I have worked.

However, I have noticed something very interesting and unique with Musilm women. There is a huge amount of spiritual energy being transmitted through the spiritual hierarchy of Islam, directly to women within the faith. This energy is bypassing the traditional gatekeepers and going directly to the sisterhood. The energy itself is not particularly feminine, but it is definitely being transmitted specifically to women.

The message is simple. “Connect to the Great Love. Let the Great Love empower you to spread Peace.”

There is an enormous wealth of power and intelligence within the sisterhood of Islam. I say “sisterhood” because that is how it was presented to me during our sessions. There is a general desire among the higher spirits in the Islamic hierarchy for these women of power and intelligence to unite in the cause of receiving the Great Love that is being transmitted to them and using it for the purpose of spreading peace.

This is a spiritual message not a political message.

A friend of mine noticed that I was not my usual self and was having problems manifesting prosperity. She told me she had a period of “stuckness” and had good results from an energy healer named Michael Roland and recommended me to go to his website.

I’d tried other energy healings and treatments which helped considerably, but I had some doubts because so far nothing had made me feel like “the old me”—active, enthusiastic, intelligent, self-confident, helpful—I was in grief, missing the best parts of me.

After a few e-mails, I got to know Michael better and liked his warmth, sincerity, and kind concern. I made an appointment on his website and he called me at home on time. He put me at ease right away with his nice voice and humble confidence. He asked what I would like to accomplish in this session and then tuned in to my energy and began to read what was going on.

Michael is very much in tune with psychic energies.  He asked about people from a spiritual group I belonged to and determined who was in my energy and why they were there. He worked with me to send these people far away. In my mind’s eye I could see them go. He also found that I needed to see myself far away from a different spiritual organization. As Michael told me about these people, I finally realized why I felt crushed by them and why I no longer wanted to do my spiritual practices. He also found that I still had attachments to and from my ex and cleared these.

I felt optimistic and empowered because he found more than other healers and not only helped me to remove attachments, but told me what to do to keep them away this time. He gave me a meditation, hand mudra, and mantra to rely on myself more to rebuild my crushed Spiritual energy field. Michael’s message to me was to empower myself without associations and to keep disassociating and clearing so I can rely on myself.

Michael answered all my questions and even though there are still some things to be cleared, I feel I have clarity and understanding, an improved outlook, more compassion for myself, and feel more willing to take an active role in my own life. I felt lighter and freer after our session and felt my energy shifting in my head. My face looks more relaxed and for the past two days, I’ve felt my second and first chakras lit up with energy. I also have had increased opportunities for work and people have been more generous and friendly toward me.

“Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in every heart.” When Jalal al din Rumi wrote those words in thirteenth century Persia it is unlikely that he had any idea of the vast array of career and life choices available to a twenty-first century human being. With the staggering number of career possibilities and life paths available to each of us, how do you know what is truly right for you?

My work with clients, in the spiritual realm, has given me a unique perspective on career, purpose, and spiritual path. We are all blessed with free will and the ability to decide things for ourselves. This gives us ample opportunity to follow our desires for career, to make decisions about pursuing our life’s purpose. The difference between fulfilling a purpose and fulfilling a desire is: Fulfilling your desire serves you. Fulfilling your purpose serves all, including yourself. One of the keys to happiness is learning to align your desires with your purpose. So far, so good, but you can read this same idea in a thousand self-help books. What about my unique perspective?

The ability of being able to look into another’s spiritual energy system has given me a few insights I wouldn’t have had otherwise:

There is spiritual energy available to help you fulfill your life’s purpose. That means if your career choice is in line with your purpose, the spiritual energy will be there to help you succeed. You can tap into this energy only when you are on the path of your purpose (but, not before).

You have a positive effect on other people and even other spirits when you are fulfilling purpose.

Not all of your desires coincide with your life’s purpose, sad but true. Get over it and get on with it. The clock is ticking on your temporal existence.

When you insist on pursuing your desires over your purpose, you end up causing misery for yourself and others, even if you have the outward appearance of success.

Most people have one or a few specific purposes to fulfill not hundreds or thousands, so your real options may be fewer than you think.

You have been or will be lead to your purpose. In fact if you’re not already on it, you have likely considered it, if not acted on it already. Because, like Rumi wrote, somewhere within your heart is the desire to serve your true purpose.

When you are fulfilling your purpose, you are on your spiritual path. Church, religion, and prayer optional.

A happy career is one that is aligned with true purpose and therefore is congruent with your spiritual path

It always gives me a great feeling when I am able to help someone identify their purpose and get onto their life path or career path. It’s one of those good for me, good for you things. Maybe it’s part of my purpose?

This lifetime is only one epoch in the continuum of your existence. You have been a living consciousness since your beginning and you will continue to be a living consciousness for the rest of eternity. It is likely that you have had lifetimes on Earth before this one and that you will have lifetimes on Earth after this one. Expand you idea of past and future to include the multiple lifetimes that you have had and those that you will undoubtedly have in the future.

Each lifetime is affected by the previous lifetime. You have built Yourself through your trials, hardships, and experiences. Each past life prepares you for the next one like childhood prepares you for adolescence and adolescence for adulthood. Just as childhood traumas can lead to a difficult adolescence, past life traumas can cause problems in this lifetime.

Past lives build on one another. Energetically, they are like layers of an onion. Each life epoch is connected, yet separate from the others. Each life epoch can help or hinder the next phase of growth.

Most therapies in our current life epoch only concern themselves with traumas of this lifetime, often going back as far as early childhood or even prenatal, but rarely further. Specific expertise is required to pierce the layer of your current lifetime to find and dissipate past life trauma.

Past life trauma is like a magnetic ball and chain. It is a heavy weight to carry, it slows you down, and it attracts similar trauma in this lifetime.

It is possible to relieve past life traumas and lighten the burden for your journey forward.

Caution: If you have experienced sexual abuse, do not read the material presented below unless you have already done work around the issue of your abuse either with professionals in the field, or by some other means, and you have come to a place where you  feel you can safely explore removing the last remnants of the energetic patterns associated with your trauma. Note: Obviously either sex can be a perpetrator or a victim of sexual abuse, I have used the masculine and feminine below only to simplify the writing.

Sexual abuse touches its victims at every level of their being. The remnants of the traumatic events and remnants the predator himself can be found, in the psyche, in the body, in the energy system and even in the spiritual material itself. In therapy these remnants can be accessed through talk, therapeutic touch, acupuncture of the meridian system and even through work of the subtlest energies that relate to the spirit. So often during your personal journey, you have done remarkable work with various therapies, yet the deepest energetic blocks remain at the level of the spiritual material. You must realize that the perpetrator himself has never let go of you. Many victims of sexual abuse have learned to survive the abuse, but on the journey, you must learn to thrive and the next step of the journey is to remove the spiritual attachments of the predator.

These attachmentss can last your entire lifetime, as even in death the predator often does not release you. The perpetrator feels that he is justified in his actions. He feels he has a right to posses you. Either consciously or unconsciously, he believes that his spiritual hooks into you cannot be seen, nor can they be undone. Of course, his actions were never justified. He has no right to possess you. His energetic hooks into you can be found and they can be removed.

He can become enormously angry when confronted by someone who can expose him and release his hold on you. This is not to be feared as it is only evidence that he is weakening and being forced to let go.

The spiritual hook of the sexual predator can be the last residue within you. You must be compassionate towards yourself when you realize the perpetrator has not let go.  If you do not feel totally free, do not blame yourself. You have done the personal and bodywork necessary to confront the effects of the abuse. Be proud of what you have accomplished and the therapies you have embarked upon to bring you to this place in the journey.

British philosopher Alan Watts once said, “Making a New Years resolution is like broadcasting your intentions to the Devil.”

Thankfully my experience in the spiritual realm tells me that there is no Devil (with a big D and big horns). However there are forces at work that try to keep you from becoming your best, that try to keep you from progressing on your spiritual journey. Usually these forces are not evil per se, but never-the-less, they do not have your best interest in mind. They do not want you to progress spiritually. In fact they want you to stay right where you are.

We all have things about ourselves, large or small, which we would like to improve. When we try to make progress on them we are often unsuccessful. Sometimes it is just because we don’t try hard enough. We don’t commit. Other times there is literally a force that somehow holds us back. These forces can be in the form of emotional or spiritual blockages.

When we make a resolution to change, we inadvertently broadcast this intention to the very forces that want us to fail. Alan Watts might have counseled that we follow the Water Course or the Way of the Tao, to try without trying to act without acting and thereby do without resolving to do. By doing so, we would not attract the attention of those who want us to fail. Ultimately this may be the best course of action, but until you become a Taoist Master it could be a little difficult to manifest.

Make this New Year a time of renewal. Remove the emotional and spiritual blockages that have been holding you back. Release you essential being that has been blocked. Move forward with Peace and Lightness of Being.

Emotional and Spiritual Renewal sessions with Michael Roland can permanently remove emotional and spiritual blockages.

Blockages in your energy field, whether spiritual or emotional, sometimes have a justifiable reason for being there. This is especially true with certain spiritual blockages. 

Removing blockages is relatively simple. First the blockage  is identified, then before it can be safely removed, the purpose of the blockage has to be understood. Spiritual blockages and spiritual attachments always have a reason for being there.

Often the reason is purely selfish on the part of the spirit who has formed the blockage by their attachment. Emotional interest on the part of the attaching spirit is usually the cause. It can be a family member, husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend. It can be someone who is upset with the other person. 

Spiritual attachments are sometimes there for a reason other than selfish interest on the part of the attaching spirit. 

One reason is a “spiritual contract.” As spirits we have tests or tasks that must be accomplished in this lifetime. Before we come to this life we have agreed to some of these tests and tasks. It may be the test of living through the trials of poverty or wealth. It could be the task of serving humanity in some way, small or large. Sometimes, we have made a contract to help a specific person with ta spcific test or task in this lifetime. The spirit whom we are supposed to help, may stay attached to us until we have fulfilled our spiritual contract with them. It could be that we were the cause of suffering to another spirit in a previous life and that spirit is “haunting” us, until this perceived injustice has been made right. These types of spiritual attachments can be renegotiated and removed, but sometimes the attachment must remain until the obligation has been fulfilled. On these occasions an appeal must be made to higher spirits who protect the people involved. Then the answer has to be obeyed. Removing justified spiritual attachments without permission of the higher spirits involved is not recommended.

Spiritual attachment is the persistent interconnection of another’s spiritual or emotional energy to yours. A spiritual attachment has many forms that can only be described metaphorically. It can be like a hook or a barb that penetrates your spiritual material. It can be an energy form that is interwoven or lodged within your spiritual body. It can even be a situation where the attached spirit is obsessed with you and never or rarely leaves your presence.
There are infinite reasons why this might happen, but they often fall into one of several categories. Obsession is a common cause of spiritual attachment.

In fact in some way all attachments are a form of obsession. I usually find obsessive spiritual attachments arise from emotional or sexual relationships. Intimate partners often find it difficult to let go. They will hang on spiritually even when they cannot stay physically. The simplest case is an old flame that just won’t die. They try to hang on even when all chances of being together have past. The most severe tend to be incestuous. Especially where a parent is sexually obsessed with a child and refuses to let the child go. I have found this type of spiritual attachment in mature adults who have dealt with the sexual abuse cognitively and emotionally and who’s parents have long since past, yet the spiritual attachment remains. It can be the most tenacious variety and can sometimes take many sessions to resolve.
Karmic debt can cause spiritual attachment. There are situations where you owe a spiritual debt to another. This is usually from a past life where you treated another person unfairly and must make it up. Sometimes it is a form of spiritual contract where you have agreed to help another spirit in this lifetime and you are not fulfilling that agreement. So, the spirit stays attached in some way, asking for you to fulfill that obligation.
Injustice or perceived injustice can cause another spirit to attach itself to your spirit. The reasons are too numerous to consider here, but usually it happens when another person is angry or jealous because of some real or perceived slight. This can occur in the family, in the work place, or literally anywhere. These are easy to relieve in most cases.
Magic, shamanism, and other forms of energy and spiritual manipulation can cause attachments. These can be extremely difficult to remove and must be approached with utmost care, especially when the recipient was complaisant. A version of this can also occur in master/disciple teacher/student and other similar relationships.
Deep concern about another person can cause an attachment to form.
You can invite attachments or even attach yourself to another spirit. Obsessive thoughts about another person or holding grudges can cause your spirit to attach to theirs. Placing yourself in or remaining in or around unpleasant people or environments can also increase the likelihood of attachments.
Usually I consider attachments to be adverse to your spiritual health, even your physical health. It is rare that they actually need to be there. In most cases they should be resolved.
